Bible Camp Was Very Good!

"Great are the works of the Lord, studied by all who delight in them." Psalm 111:2

Thankfully the Lord worked through His people and pulled off another Bible Camp in this year of challenges!  The camp had teams of staff to support the high school, discipleship, junior high, and elementary camps. It was also a blessing to see some campers who have been coming for many years volunteer as counselors, kitchen, and maintenance staff.

I was able to sit in on some of the sessions, and it was awesome to hear God's Word being taught, including the Old and New Testaments, which shared the fallen state of man, the need for repentance, and the new life and hope we have in Jesus Christ!
I flew staff members that were pastors, laypersons, and counselors who were college-age and high school-age for the elementary camp. The short-term missions teams were from all over the west coast and some from the east coast, even down to Florida. It was encouraging to see their enthusiasm to share the love of Christ with all the campers and face each day with a smile even though they were dealing with a lack of sleep, lots of mosquitoes, and constant duties.

God's body was at work on the remote Yukon in Alaska!

"I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call— one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all."

Ephesians 4:1-6

The weather was challenging for a lot of the flying this year due to it being a cooler summer in Alaska.  The cooler temps brought lower clouds and rain showers which resulted in us needing to divert around the mountains on several of the flights.

I was concerned about the number of pilots and planes for camp this year since we lost one of our pilots who had flown for Bible Camp in the past.  However, the four pilots and planes that flew for camp proved to be adequate, and the camp capacity was kept at a manageable size.

The whole family got to go out for the final camp and see firsthand how the Lord is working in remote Alaska!  Johnathan and Lael shared the gospel message through a puppet show at the elementary camp.  In the young campers, there were a lot of seeds planted throughout the week at camp, so be praying the Lord would water these young hearts!

This year like every major undertaking, was a work of the Holy Spirit to motivate his people to serve in remote Alaska!  I often have concerns about how the work will be accomplished, but I am reminded by Psalm 127:2, "For He gives to His beloved even in his sleep."
